Paul W. Russell

Paul W. Russell, 77, 192 Bill Lewis Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, 
October 30, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Russell was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a 
son of the late James A. and Sallie Webb Russell. He was also preceded 
in death by a son, Jeffrey Allen Rupard
Mr. Russell was a retired agent with the Gulf Life Insurance Company 
and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran 
of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of two 
Bronze Star Medals and an Army Commendation Medal.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Roscoe and 
Belinda Russell, Hampton, and Ricky Wayne Russell, Vienna, Va.; a 
daughter, Paula D. Russell, Louisville, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Kelly 
Rupard, Sterling, Va.; two nephews, Clifford Davis and Johnny Russell, 
both of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Caitlin, Devon and Allison Rupard, 
all of Sterling, Va., Brittany and John Paul Russell, both of Butler; four 
stepchildren, Scotty Scalf, Delaney Scalf, Drema VanHuss and Robin Johnson, 
all of Elizabethton; 12 stepgrandchildren; a special friend, Lena Scalf, 
Elizabethton; and his former wife, Opal J. Russell, Hampton.
Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

RUSSELL -- Funeral services for Paul W. Russell, 77, 192 Bill Lewis Road, 
Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-
Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. H. Brooks Peters, Rev. Burl 
Garland, Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Clyde Davis officiating. Music will be 
by the Carr Family. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday in the Fitzsimmons Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard 
Miller, John Campbell, Vance Johnson, James Cline, Bill Erickson and Bobby 
Scalf. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. 
Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may visit at the residence any time. 
Everyone wishing to attend the graveside service will meet at the cemetery 
at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. To those who desire, memorials may be made in memory 
of Mr. Russell to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, 
Tenn. 37644. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of 
arrangements.
