Harrison Scalf
Harrison "Skip" Scalf, 75, 137 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, June
12, 2001, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville. Mr. Scalf was a
native of Carter County and the son of the late Chester and Nell Bowling Scalf.
He was also
preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Diane Scalf Blackwell, and a son, Robert
Dale "Bo" Scalf. Mr. Scalf was retired from Moores Potato Chip Company and was
of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a recipient of the Purple
Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Holly Scalf; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry
and Linda Gail Scalf, Elizabethton; a brother, Randy Scalf, of South Carolina;
five grandchildren, Natasha Scalf, of the home, Kathie Dyan Scalf and Erick
Estep, both of Elizabethton, Logan Rowe, Limestone, and Connor Hall, of South
Carolina; and a great-grandchild, Craig Estep, Elizabethton. Several nieces and
nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
SCALF -- Funeral services for Harrison "Skip" Scalf, 75, 137 Coal Chute Road,
Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m.
Thursday, June 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Holly
officiating. Music will be provided by Roger and Brenda Peters. Graveside
services and interment will be
conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with
Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active
pallbearers will be selected from friends attending the service. Honorary
pallbearers will be J.D. Phillips, Gordon Holly, Lawrence "Beardy" Holly, Pete
Dolan, Bob Williams and Randy Scalf. A special thanks to the Nursing Staff of
Ward C of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and a very special thanks to
Arthur "Deacon" Bowers. The family, friends, minister and pallbearers will meet
at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also
call at the residence. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
