GATE CITY, Va. - Nella Marie Scalf, 79, entered into rest Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Weber City, Va.
She was born May 24, 1923 in Scott County, Va. to the late Burlie and Bersheba Neal Bledsoe.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys Barker; two sisters and one brother.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ransome Scalf, Gate City, Va.; three daughters, Loraine Brooks, Gate City, Va., Carolyn Griffin, Manassas, Va. and Wilma Compton, Gate City, Va.; six sons, Cecil Scalf, St. Louis, Mo., Gerald Scalf, Houston, Texas, Larry Scalf, Culpepper, Va., Malcolm Scalf, Gate City, Va., Leon Scalf, Kingsport and Rev. Vanus Scalf, Gate City, Va.; two brothers, Cardus and Milford Bledsoe, both of Fairview, Va.; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Pat Hammond and Rev. Allen Hensley officiating.
Music will be provided by Midway Quartet.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, V.

Gladys Scalf was born in 1943. She died in 2002 at age ~59.
